A House Ways and Means subcommittee meeting was held today on House Study Bill 671,  legislation that specifies that Iowa schools can’t begin before September 1st and tightens up the waiver process for schools that would wish to start earlier.  It passed out of subcommittee and now will be considered by the full Iowa House Ways and Means Committee.  This legislation is extremely important to the Iowa travel and tourism industry and does so without compromising Iowa student achievement.  Below is a link to an Iowa Public Radio story and audio about what took place today:
